It is not easy for people to exhibit compassion.
Many people who claim to have compassion are actually hypocrites. That is why courage is a more apt word than compassion.
To courageously speak about what is right is tantamount to compassion.
Courage and compassion are like two sides of the same coin.

Small things matter.
What may look like a small act of courage is courage nevertheless. The important thing is to be willing to take a step forward.

True courage is always backed by compassion; there is nothing evil or malicious behind it. If there is any ill intention, you can be sure it is not real courage.

The essence of Buddhism is compassion.
We, too, need to have compassion but, being ordingay mortals, the reality is that it is quite difficult for us. Courage substitutes for compassion. Great individuals fight abuses of authority.

Those who have no courage are the ones who steal, who oppress, who kill and maim, who threaten people with weapons, who wage war. People do such evil things because they are cowards.

Let us give something to each person we meet: joy, courage, hope, assurance, philosophy, wisdom, a vision for the fuuture. Let us always give something.
